Tipping-off
Tipping-off is telling a customer or anyone else, directly or indirectly, that a suspicious transaction report has been or will be filed, or that an investigation is under way. It is a criminal offence in the UAE, Türkiye and most other jurisdictions. Confidentiality usually does not prevent sharing within the firm or its group to prevent or report financial crime.
Why it matters for brokers and payment firms
Customer-facing teams at brokers and payment firms handle held withdrawals and blocked payments daily. Neutral scripts and limited access to case reasons keep them from tipping off by accident.
