KYC (Know your customer)

Know your customer is the process of identifying and verifying a customer at onboarding and keeping that information current. It covers identity documents, address, date of birth, occupation, source of funds and, for entities, ownership and control. KYC is the practical core of customer due diligence.

Why it matters for brokers and payment firms

KYC data is what links accounts together: a passport number, phone or address shared across logins is often the first evidence in a wash-trading or third-party funding case.
