EDD (Enhanced due diligence)

Enhanced due diligence is the extra scrutiny applied to higher-risk customers and situations: politically exposed persons, customers from high-risk countries, complex ownership, or activity inconsistent with the profile. It typically includes source-of-wealth checks, senior management approval and more frequent reviews.

Why it matters for brokers and payment firms

Deposits sitting just below the amount that triggers EDD are a classic structuring signal. Firms should know their own EDD thresholds and monitor behaviour around them.
