Beneficial ownership register

A beneficial ownership register is an official record of the natural persons who own or control companies, kept by a government registrar or a company itself. Many jurisdictions, including the UAE, require companies to keep and file this information. Access rules for financial institutions vary.

Why it matters for brokers and payment firms

Firms can use registers to verify what a corporate client declares. A mismatch between the register and the client's declaration is itself a finding worth recording.
