VASP (Virtual asset service provider)
A virtual asset service provider exchanges, transfers, holds or administers virtual assets, or provides financial services for their issuance, on behalf of others. VASPs are subject to AML/CFT obligations under FATF standards and national law.
Why it matters for brokers and payment firms
Deposits from and withdrawals to VASPs are common at brokers. The VASP's licensing status and the wallet's exposure are part of the funding picture.
