Travel rule

The travel rule requires originator and beneficiary information to accompany a transfer between institutions. FATF Recommendation 16 applies it to wire transfers and to virtual asset transfers between service providers.

Why it matters for brokers and payment firms

Payment firms and brokers accepting crypto-assets need the counterparty's information with each transfer. Missing or inconsistent data is a monitoring signal in its own right.
