Correspondent banking
Correspondent banking is one bank providing services, such as accounts and payments, to another bank, often across borders. The correspondent processes transactions for the respondent's customers, whom it does not know directly.
Why it matters for brokers and payment firms
Payment firms often rely on correspondent or partner banks. Those banks expect the firm's monitoring to be strong, and a weak control environment can cost the firm its banking.
