Audit trail
An audit trail is a chronological record of who did what, when and why in a system. In compliance systems it covers alert creation, review, decisions, changes to thresholds and filings.
Why it matters for brokers and payment firms
An audit trail is only useful if it cannot be quietly changed. A hash-chained log, in which each entry includes the hash of the previous one, shows whether anything was altered or removed.
