Adverse media
Adverse media, or negative news, is information in public sources that links a person or company to crime, fraud, corruption, sanctions breaches or similar risks. Screening for it is part of due diligence at onboarding and during the relationship. A hit is a lead to assess, not proof.
Why it matters for brokers and payment firms
An adverse-media hit on a funding counterparty or an introducing broker can change the risk of many accounts at once. The assessment of the hit belongs in the case file.
